The Dochu La is a mountain pass located at an elevation of about 3,100 metres in the snow covered Himalayas on the road from Thimphu to Punakha in Bhutan. There, 108 memorial chortens or stupas known as `Druk Wangyal Chortens` have been built under the patronage of the eldest Queen Mother, as a memorial in honor of the Bhutanese soldiers who were killed in the December 2003 battle against Assamese insurgents from India.
