Impressario, emcee, Dick Clark hosts "Dick Clark's 'Ole Rock and Roll Show," which featured icons such as Chuck Berry, Freddy Cannon, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Bo Didley, was the highlight of "Chicagofest," a week-long festival at the Navy Pier, along the city's lakefront, in August, 1979. Clark rose to fame in the 1950s with his "American Bandstand" tv show and became a game show host and more importantly a producer and major player in the entertainment industry with his Clark Productions outfit. In later year's he hosted "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve," on an annual basis, even when slowed by the affects of a stroke. He died at 83 on April 18, 2012.
