| The Romanesque style Baptistery is an octagonal building adjacent to the Duomo of Florence and pre-dates the cathedral. The interior ceiling is a magnificent mosaic depicting the Last Judgment and other biblical stories. The mosaic shimmers with gold tiles and was created by several artists over the course of a century. The religious piece was influenced by Byzantine art of the 13th century. |
