The Almendres cromlech is located 12 kilometers west of Évora. It is a circle of prehistoric stones with 95 stone monoliths. It is the megalithic monument of its most important type in the Iberian Peninsula, and one of the most important in Europe, not only because of its size but also because of its state of conservation. It was originally constituted in three phases, between the ancient Neolithic and the late Neolithic. The set was drafted in 1964 and classified as a national monument in 2015.
