Considered the father of detective fiction, Samuel Dashiell Hammett, better known simply as Dashiell Hammett. Most of Hammett`s detective stories take place in San Francisco in the 1920`s, where he was living and writing at the time, which is why many of the locations are real, San Francisco location. This building at 891 Post Street is shown to be where Hammett was living at the time in the fourth floor corner apartment, which he used in at least one of his stories, Maltese Falcon.
