Lin Benyuan's Residence is currently the most complete remaining garden building in Taiwan. It was designed to imitate the Suzhou Liuyuan Garden and was expanded into its current appearance in 1847 by two brothers, Lin Guohua and Lin Guofang. The garden can be divided into two parts: garden and di, which refers to the garden part outside the house, which includes Laiqing Pavilion, Yuebo Waterside Pavilion, Dingjing Hall and other buildings and artificial landscapes the di refers to the garden part. This is the residence of Lin Benyuan's family, the Sanluo House on the west side of the garden. It requires a special guide to enter. In 1976, the Lin Benyuan family donated part of the garden to the then county government (now the New Taipei City Government) and the Cultural Affairs Bureau was responsible for the maintenance and renovation work. It was listed as a national monument in the residence category.
