The Cwmorthin area was a busy place in it's heyday with the remains of Wrysgan Slate quarry on one side of the valley and the remains of Cwmorthin this side. Now the area is mainly visited by hikers exploring the area. The lower reservoir of the Ffestiniog pump hydro staion Llyn Tanygrisiau can also be seen. Snowdonia National Park
