Bird: Black winged Stilt. Himantopus himantopus. It is a black and white bird with incredibly long legs found in or around shallow water. It has a thin and flat beak, long wings and a shiny black head. It is seen in warm and tropical climate zones. It usually feeds in freshwater areas, lake edges, sea shores, marshes, river beds and swamp ponds. It is also frequently seen feeding on the shores of salt flats. It lives in steppes, desert regions, shallow stagnant waters, sandy, muddy, open places, shallow lakes and rivers, mountain lakes, rice fields, dams, lagoons and swamps. It has a very wide habitat. It can be found in Australia, Central and South America, Africa, Asia, North America, Eurasia, Hawaii and the Philippines.
