Kentish Plover Charadrius alexandrinus. It is a small, sand-coloured plover. The diet of the European plover species consists primarily of insects. Insects, worms, beetles, flies, termites and ants, spiders, crustaceans and mollusks are its main diet. It catches insects on dry ground as well as in soft mud. Both sexes actively defend their nest territories by chasing or fighting. This is done by running or flying at the intruder. Males tend to be more aggressive than females.
