Common Ringed Plover. Charadrius hiaticula. It is a small species, 17-19.5 cm in size, with a wingspan of 35-41 cm. The feeding habitat of the ringed plover species is open beaches or flat areas of Eurasia and Arctic Northeastern Canada. Some also feed in areas far from the sea. They build their nests in open areas and on the ground. Insects, crustaceans and worms make up the species' diet. It has a distinctive "run, stop and lean forward" feeding style.
