The most cold-hardy of the magnolias, with large glossy leaves and small greenish, tulip-shaped flowers. The fruits that follow the flowers turn from green to red as they mature. A good shade tree or specimen tree for colder climates. It grows to 50‐80 feet tall and has a pyramidal shape. The leaves turn ashbrown in the autumn. Flowers April through June.
