This ungainly bird, found on the island of cayman brac, is a carnivore. its name, crabeater, follows from its hunting methods. The bird catches a crab, which it finds too difficult to eat because of its protective shell. the solution is to catch a crab, fly up with it and drop it on a hard surface like a stone or concrete. This particular bird hangs out near an outdoor restaurant where diners cut off small pieces of meat which the bird dashes in to grab up and eat.
