Lasura fruits appear in March-June. The green fruits turn yellow when ripe. The pulp is somewhat translucent as it is filled with sticky glue like mucilage. When fully ripe, the pulp tastes very sweet. While these fruits are green, the villagers eat them as vegetables. Pickles are also made from these fruits. These pickles are in great demand abroad. It is also used in Ayurveda for medicines. |
