In 1968, the body style changed and the Mako Shark II was introduced patterned after a prototype model. For the first time, removable T-Top panels and side exhaust were offered. The engine options included a 350 V-8 and produced 300HP and a 427 V-8 that produced 430HP. Beginning in 1971, lower compression ratios were used in order to comply with unleaded gas.
