| Portugal, district and city Viana do Castelo, Costa Verde or Green Coast region. One highlight of the town is the christian, catholic, church Santa Luzia. This pilgrimage church, is also called the sanctuary the Santa Luzia or the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The domed neo Byzantine basilica is builded in the nineteenth century by the architect Miguel Ventura Terra, after the example of the Sacre Coeur in Paris. At top left is a picture, image, of the apostle Saint James, James the Greater, with scallop shell and as a pilgrim. This historic building is a national monument, cultural heritage site, landmark and tourist attraction. |
