Arles Amphitheatre (Arènes d'Arles) in the south of France dates back to 90 AD and is built to house 20`000 spectators. Interestingly, the structure was used as fortification after the fall of Rome when the specific towers were built and house within the structure. In 1830 was returned to the original use as an amphitheatre and from 1981 is a UNESCO World Heritage Site |
