The Coastal or Menzies` Goldenbush, Isocma menziesii, is native to California down to Baja California Sur, mainly along the coastal range, thus the name. One of the unusual characteristics of this plant for its very dry growing location, it does not readily come back after big fires the way other chaparral plants do. Although the native peoples knew about this plant, as it was quite abundant, there is no indication they had any use for it either. As seen at the Carpinteria Salt Marsh 15 August 2022.
