Khanom thian is a small conical shape flour dumpling steamed in banana leaf which originated from north Thailand. Typically filled with a savoury mung bean paste, stuffings can also be sweet such as grated coconut caramelised in palm sugar. The dish is used as a ceremonial offering by Thais for merit making during Songkran, and is often given to friends and relatives as a gift.
