| Netherlands, North Holland province, region West-Friesland, fortified city Hoorn: Landscape with the Oude Gouwsboom, a water gate which was built at the end of the sixteenth, 16th, century, with the construction of the contemporary rampart, fortification wall. The gate also served as a sluice for canal, the Noorder Boerenvaart into the Boerenhoek. The lock house with retaining walls in the enclosure is a landmark, cultural heritage site, national monument and tourist attraction.
