| City Methodist Church
Gary, Indiana
Costing $800,000 to build and once the largest Methodist church in the Midwest, this Gothic Revival church closed in 1975 after a short life of only 50 years.
It`s also been the backdrop in numerous movies including A Nightmare on Elm Street and Transformers 3.
According to Atlas Obscura, in 2017, the Gary Redevelopment Commission was awarded a $163,333 grant by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to redevelop City Methodist Church as a ââ¬Åruins garden,ââ¬Â with an amphitheater for weddings and receptions. |
