City Hall is the iconic headquarters, at least until the end of 2021, of the Greater London Authority (GLA) and then of the Mayor of London, the Mayor of London, and of the London Assembly.
The building is located in Southwark, on the south bank of the Thames adjacent to Tower Bridge and opposite the Tower of London, which is between two of the most important symbols of London. Inaugurated on 23 July 2002, London City Hall was designed by the English architect Sir Norman Foster and quickly became one of the new symbols of the capital of the United Kingdom. Its shape, often defined as 'revolutionary', derives from a geometrically modified sphere in order to minimize the area exposed to direct sunlight and, consequently, to improve its energy efficiency, reducing consumption and pollution (even if there were some problems regarding the expenditure of energy and heat).
