Ginkakuji, also known as the Silver Pavilion, is a Zen temple in Kyoto, Japan. Built in 1482 by shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa, it is renowned for its elegant simplicity and beautiful gardens. The temple features a sand garden and moss garden that reflect the aesthetics of the Higashiyama culture. Despite its name, the temple is not covered in silver. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts visitors year-round.
