In biology, exuviae are the remains of an exoskeleton and related structures that are left after ecdysozoans have moulted. They then moult shed their skins on a nearby plant or structure for the last time, and emerge as adults. The exuviae or abandoned exoskeletons remain, still clinging to the bark of the tree or structure.
