The church is located below the Mesocco Castle.
The church perhaps derives from a previous building built in the 11th century and equipped with a single rectangular nave and a double apse, with a semicircular shape. In the 14th century an arcosolium was built in the southern part of the bell tower, while in 1469 the facade was decorated with a San Cristoforo. In the 17th century the building was modified twice: in 1627 by Giovanni Battista Viscardi, who enlarged the nave, enlarged the windows and added the choir, and in 1680 by an unknown architect, who added the sacristy instead. |
