The Church of St. Petka in Donji Matejevac was built on the foundations of an old place of worship from the period of the Roman Empire. It is located in the municipality of Pantelej in Nis at the foot of ÄŒegra only a hundred meters away from the monument to the heroes of ÄŒegar. There is a legend that the army of Stevan Sindjelic and Resavac received communion in that church before the battle of Cegra. On that occasion it was renewed on the bicentennial of the Battle of Chegar
