Qigu Salt Mountain is located in Qigu District and Jiangjun District of Tainan City. It is one of the largest and the latest development of the Qigu Salt Field Relics in Taiwan, with a total area of more than 2,700 hectares. In its heyday, it produced 110,000 tons of salt annually, mainly for domestic supply. The agricultural and industrial use of salt has changed with the times, and drying salt is not economical. The Qigu Salt Field was abandoned in May 2002, ending the 338-year history of salt drying in Taiwan. The famous salt industry tourism base is the location of `Yantian Sunning Jade`, one of the eight scenic spots in the New Southern Ying. Because the salt mountain is as dazzling as white snow, like the Changbai Mountain that has been covered with snow for many years, it is also called `Changbai Mountain in Southern Taiwan`, and the Japanese who come to Taiwan for sightseeing call it `Taiwan`s Mount Fuji`.
