| Chateau Villandry, Indre et Loire, France, Europe. Restored in 1906 by Joachim Carvallo (1869-1936) and his wife Ann Coleman, the castle is known for its six gardens: the manor dominates a decorative vegetable garden, an ornamental garden with tall box trees, a classical water garden, a sun garden created in 2008, the maze of pergolas and a simple garden of medieval inspiration. A tennis court was added in 2010. The castle, gardens and park as a whole are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. |
