There are no records in so far known historiographical sources of the year and duration of construction or its builder. Historians agree that the fortress was built in the second half of the 14th or the first half of the 15th century. Regarding its construction and other indications, it is assumed that it was built by King Tvrtko II KotromaniÃâ¡ but historians also believe that the possible builder was King Stefan DabiÃÂ¡a.
