| Pictured is the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, built in 1525, in the Basilica of San Francesco in Ravenna, Italy. The statue of the Immaculate Conception is by Antonio Trentanove and was inaugurated on July 16th, 1788. The other statue is Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe, a Polish catholic priest and Conventual Franciscan Friar. He was very active in promoting the veneration of the Immaculate Virgin Mary. He was arrested by the Natzi's for hiding 2,000 Jews in his friary and eventually sent to Auschwitz where he was martyred. |
