The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, located in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA., is guarded 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by Tomb Guard sentinels. The guard is changed every hour, on the hour, from October 1st to March 31st and every 1/2 hour from April 1st to September 30th in an elaborate ritual, open for the public to witness during cemetery hours. Tomb guards are considered to be the best of the elite 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment The Old Guard, headquartered at Fort Myer, Va.
