Yuelu Academy is located at the eastern foot of the Mountain Yuelu on the West Bank of Xiangjiang River in Changsha City, Hunan Province. It is a academy of Chinese ancient traditional architecture and one of the four famous academies in Chinese history.ÃÂ In 1988, Yuelu Academy complex was approved by the State Council as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units. In the ninth year of Kaibao of the Northern Song Dynasty 976, Zhu Dong, the prefect of Tanzhou, was built with the donation of the government on the basis of the school run by monks, and officially founded Yuelu Academy.ÃÂ after the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was changed into Hunan Higher School in the 29th year of Guangxu 1903 at the end of the Qing Dynasty. In the eighth year of Xiangfu in the Northern Song Dynasty AD 1015, Song Zhenzong summoned executive directorZhoushi and gave a four character gate of `Yuelu Academy`.ÃÂ It was officially named Hunan University in 1926.ÃÂ Yuelu Academy has been known as `Millennium University` for thousands of years, and is now a subordinate college of Hunan University.
