Chamara Dancers perform a dance whereby the yak tails they hold symbolically fan the Sacred Tooth Relic during the Esala Perahara in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The Esala Perahera runs every year in late July or early August for ten days, ending on the Nikini poya (full moon) and is held to honour the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha (which is enshrined within the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic) and is considered one of the most colourful processions in the world.
