| Hematogones (red arrows )are normal B lineage progenitors, which normally account for < 1% of the bone marrow cellularity. Morphologically, they contain scant cytoplasm and often have round, indented nuclei with absent or inconspicuous nucleoli. Increased numbers of hematogones may mimic B lymphoblastic leukemia.
