The Dutch football team lost the World Cup! For the third time in history the Dutch lose the World Championship final. This time Spain won in an exciting and historic match. The Netherlands is disappointed, but above all proud. Arrangements have been made for the homage of the Dutch football team. Just like in 1988, after winning the European Cup, the city of Amsterdam has arranged a boat tour through the canals. It will be a national feast where thousands of fans are expected to welcome their heroes. Amsterdam Canal Tour After the formal session in the morning it was time to meet the fans. Two Air Force helicopters flew the team to Amsterdam, where a boat awaited them for a traditional canal tour. The boat with players, coach and staff were overwhelmed by the orange legion. Fans cheered from every inch around the canals, some even jumped into the water to get closer. Just like after winning the European Cup in 1988 the Amsterdam canals colored orange. Two hours later the team set foot on land and received a final party at Museumplein, where at least hundreds of thousands of fans celebrated the World Cup success. Fans and players danced and sang together for hours. An orange legion of estimated 700.000 fans gave the national football team the honors they deserved.
