| Historic Saville Dam Barkhamsted Reservoir Castle was built in the 1930's. The architects wanted the dam to have a more aesthetic appearance and bring more interesting designs. They landed on making the dam resemble a medieval castle with a moat. The tower appears to protect the entrance of a realm from invaders or enemies. Made of hewn stone, the structure sits in the reservoir and has withstood the test of time. It has an ageless appearance and is visited by many tourists each year. It is also a good spot to do star gazing at night as the area has very little light pollution |
