Ulmen is a small town in the Eifel with a caldera lake. The lake is called Ulmener Maar and the youngest of the volcanic lakes of the area. Above the lake an old castle ruin is located. Old town stretches around the castle hill from the lake to the Autobahn, which separates the old an new part. The rural area Vulkaneifel is in the extreme west of Germany, with several castle ruins and half-timbered medieval architecture. |
