Palazzo Madama e Casaforte degli Acaja is a palace in Turin, northern Italy. It was the first Senate of the Kingdom of Italy, and takes its traditional name from the embellishments it received under two queens madama of the House of Savoy. It is located in the central Piazza Castello in Turin. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as part of the Sabaude Residences serial site. The Civic Museum of Ancient Art is located in the building.Starting from the ancient Porta Praetoria of Roman times that constituted the eastern entrance to the city, and formed by two towers with a base of sixteen sides joined by a wall with four arches, in 1276 William VII Marquis of Monferrato placed a stronghold on it fortified building
