The city of Cartagena, known in the colonial era as Cartagena de Indias, is a major port founded in 1533, located on the northern coast of Colombia in the Caribbean Coast Region. Most of the street art in Getsemani was created during the Pedro Romero Lives, project in 2010. Romero was the hero of the independence movement in Cartagena in the nineteenth century and he lived in Getsemani. The works pay tribute to Romero, but also refer to indigenous inhabitants of Cartagena Calamari, fruit vendors Palenquera and social problems such as racism. In 1984, Cartagena`s colonial walled city and fortress were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cartagena, Colombia
