The Cape Cobra (Naja nivea) is a medium sized cobra found mainly in the arid regions of Southern Africa. The Cape Cobra is also known as the geelslang (yellow snake) yellow cobra, and bruinkapel (brown cobra). Afrikaans speaking South Africans refer to the Cape Cobra as koperkapel, mainly due to a rich yellow colour variation. It feeds on a wide spectrum of prey, including other snakes. The Cape cobra is regarded as one of the most dangerous species of cobra in all of Africa.
