Carcassonne - a French commune, located in the department of Aude in the region of Languedoc - Roussillon. Carcassonne is divided into old (upper) and new (lower) town. The old fortified city stands on a rocky hill and is surrounded by two walls V and XIII century. In 1997, the medieval architectural complex was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Chateau Comtal is located within the fortress of Carcassonne, which was founded by the Romans before the new era. Chateau Comtal was built in 1130.
