Tarragona is a city located in the south of Catalonia on the north-east of Spain, by the Mediterranean. In the 2nd century B. C. a great wall was built around Tarraco, delimiting the municipal boundaries. The wall originally ran some 3500 metres. Cannons were used for defension. Today approximately 1100 metres remain, bordering present day TarragonaÃ¢â¬â¢s Old Quarter.
