The California Brown Pelican,Pelecanus Occidentalis and the Pacific Harbor Seal,Phoca vitulina richardii are aquatic animals that share the rocky shore along the Western coast line of North America from Vancouver Canada down to Central Mexico. These pelicans with their very big peaks are capable of storing as much as two gallons at a time in the beak. The only breeding location for them in the United States are near the Santa Barbara Islands. Unlike cats, these seals detect sounds through their whiskers. They like to rest on the rocks to be warmed by the sun.
