On the steep Calçada da Bica, a popular neighborhood linked to the historic center of Lisbon, one of the best-known elements is its century-old elevator or funicolar - 132 years old - that connects Rua de São Paulo to Largo do Calhariz, next to Chiado. The route is covered by two identical carriages, a variant of the typical Lisbon tram adapted to the rugged characteristics of the terrain. It is one of Lisbon's ex-libris
