Montenegro - A state in south-eastern Europe, on the Adriatic coast of the Balkan Peninsula.     Washed by the Adriatic Sea, is bordered by Croatia to the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina - in the northwest, Serbia - in the northeast, partially recognized the Republic of Kosovo - in the east and Albania to the southeast.      Until June 2006, it was part of a confederal State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, occupying 13.5% of its total territory. Complete independence of Montenegro proclaimed June 3, 2006. In 2010, it acquired the official status of candidate country for EU membership. The capital and largest city of Montenegro - Podgorica.
