This aircraft is a C47 Dakota. The Aircraft is part of the Berlin Air Bridge (Luftbrücke). This particular monument is at the former USAAF Air Base Rhein Main, in Frankfurt Germany. This Aircraft was called Rosinen Bomber or Raisin Bomber. The airbridge was the biggest in history. It had to be implemented because the Soviet Union sealed off Berlin. These aircraft played a leading role on all the big parachute assaults in world war 2. Market Garden and Normandy to name but two. This particular aircraft is called The Berlin Train.
