| San Franciscos then Mayor Ephraim Burr wanted a special wedding present for his son Edmund when he became engaged to Anna Barnard.
The Cow Hollow neighborhood was still most dairy farms in the 1870`s, so was able to buy the largest city lot at the time, and had this home built in 1875 for them.
There is even a separate garden and cottage in the back, which the couples daughter, Alice used.
