Building and town in Patan Durbar Square is situated at the centre of Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City at Nepal. Architectural heritage of Kathmandu city is integral to that of the Kathmandu valley since all monuments have evolved over centuries of craftsmanship influenced by Hindu and Buddhist religious practices. In 2006, UNESCO declared these seven groups of monuments as a World Heritage Site (WHS). Patan is a one of the largest cities in Nepal and is located just across the Bagmati river from Kathmandu. Confusingly, it is also known as Lalitpur, both names deriving from the Sanskrit Lalitapattan.
