After centuries with no activity, the Soufriere Hills Volcano erupted from 1995 to 2010 destroying settlements in the southern part of the Caribbean island of Montserrat. Today an exclusion zone prevents access to more than half of the island. This photo shows the partly buried Arrow Building in Plymouth. Only the fourth floor of this building is above the thick layer of volcanic ash and mud.
