The small branches are initially dark brown and shiny, and become gray as they age. Leaves are opposite in shape, ranging from lanceolate to oblong lanceolate. The inflorescence grows at the top, with multiple flowers, forming a clustered inflorescence with short peduncles. The corolla is red or reddish yellow, with 4 lobes, and the lobes are oblong or nearly round. The tips of the lobes are blunt or round. The fruit is nearly spherical, twin shaped, and red black when ripe. The seed is long, convex on top and concave on the bottom. The flowering period is from May to July.
