Aechmea fulgens Brongn. is a perennial epiphytic or terrestrial herb belonging to the genus Aechmea in the Bromeliaceae family. Its leaves are long and narrow, forming a rosette-like cluster. The leaf surface often bears mottled spots or stripes, while the leaf edges are smooth or spiny, and the underside of the leaves is covered with silvery-white scales. The compound raceme emerges from the center of the leaf cluster, with flowers in shades of red, orange, pink, yellow, purple, and other colors. The fruiting structure resembles a bright red coral, and the ornamental period of the flowers and fruits lasts for half a year.
